POINT FULL RENOVATION

A transitional family home with touches of both modern and traditional elements.

Damage from a storm put the clients in the position of having to renovate their home. Using this necessary renovation as an opportunity to make their home function better and to explore their style, they brought in a team comprised of an architecture firm, contractor and us. Together we transformed their house into a warm and welcoming home for their young family and dog.

The original part of the 100+ year old home has beautiful heart of pine hardwoods, so we wanted to choose a flooring material for the new addition that would complement but differentiate the two spaces. I selected a harlequin pattern of white and gray marbles - a nod to the traditional style the clients love, but in a current way that speaks to some of the modern lines in the new rooms. The clients love the color blue, so we used varying shades throughout the house to add cohesion.

The clients also adore floral wallpaper, so we used it in several spaces: a soft, neutral in the front music parlor, a whimsical navy and pink in the powder room, and a cheerful yellow in the home study.

In the jack n jill bathroom, we wanted to make sure the small children wouldn’t grow out of the decor anytime soon, so we picked a navy and white color palette, with a fun tile. For the pool bath, the clients wanted to pull inspiration from their Moroccan honeymoon.
