RIVERSIDE CONVERTED DOUBLE

A fantastically fun and family friendly home

The clients made big changes when they converted a traditional double into a single family home for their adorable family of four. In the initial design meeting, they expressed their love of pops of color and their need for functionality for their two young children. By choosing performance materials for upholstery and rugs, and incorporating family heirlooms, we forged a sense of sophistication while avoiding the creation of “off limits” zones for the children.

In the serene front parlor, we reused the clients’ existing furniture, but changed out the rug and accessories, modified the floor plan, added window treatments and recovered their unique high back wing chair. In the custom kitchen breakfast nook, we took color notes from their Tiffany pendant. Using the greens and yellows to bring the space together in a joyful way, a casual and fun space for family meals was created.

The primary bedroom embraces their love of color, while keeping the room tranquil for easy relaxing and sleeping. Adding velvet curtains softened the space, and the chandelier, handcrafted in New Orleans, brings the fun from downstairs up.

The neutral backdrop throughout the home allows for the pops of color, and their vast art collection, to take center stage.
