TURN OF CENTURY RESIDENCE

Gut renovation of Designer’s circa 1906 personal home

Upon entering this home during an open house, Boo fell in love with its unique architectural details and playful light. She brought her vision of a whimsical, family friendly home to life using her favorite color palette - various hues of green, blue and soft pink, along with her signature use of both new furniture and accessories mixed with cherished heirlooms and collected art.

The color scheme, in particular the green trim, continues throughout the main floor. Varied materials and textures create interest. The powder room was fully gutted and reinvented. The custom made sectional in the living room was handcrafted in Los Angeles specifically to maximize the seating areas in the cozy space. The iron and glass coffee table was actually an heirloom from her childhood home.

The musical motif on the wallpaper is a nod to the home’s New Orleans location. The china cabinet and chairs were sourced from local antique dealers. The extendable Parsons dining table allows for both intimate and large gatherings.

The kitchen was fully redesigned, using European cabinets and a mix of granite and quartzite. The bar, in coordinating cabinetry and stone, provides a useful transition between the kitchen and the living room.

The primary suite was created by combining two bedrooms and two small bathrooms. Light flows through the walls of windows in the bedroom and continues into the bathroom. The unused room was taken over as the primary closet, gym and home office. The quad design allowed the original fireplace to be kept.
